Over a celebrated four-decade career, guitarist, songwriter, and educator Adam Levy has crafted some of the most recognizable guitar moments in contemporary American music. Widely known for his defining contributions to Grammy-winning landmarks — including his tasteful solos on Norah Jones’ multi-platinum debut Come Away with Me and his soulful work on Tracy Chapman’s classic “Give Me One Reason” — Levy is revered by peers as a consummate musician’s musician.
Levy’s intuitive feel and sonic taste have made him a first-call collaborator across jazz, pop, blues, and Americana. Recruited to Norah Jones’ Handsome Band at the very beginning of her career, he spent nearly a decade touring the globe and recording with her across three albums and three live concert films. Beyond Jones and Chapman, his versatile musicianship has shaped stages and recordings alongside legends such as Allen Toussaint, Lizz Wright, Amos Lee, Paula Cole, and Vulfpeck.
Beyond his work as an elite sideman, Levy has built a formidable catalog as a songwriter and bandleader. His compositions have been recorded by artists including Norah Jones, Gaby Moreno, Glen Phillips (Toad the Wet Sprocket), and Miles Zuniga (Fastball). As a solo artist, his work bridges intimate, introspective singer-songwriter releases like Honestly (2026) with critically acclaimed instrumental jazz recordings, including Spry and Town & Country.
A dedicated mentor to generations of players, Levy is the author of several online courses and instructional books — including the Amazon best-seller String Theories — and is the creator of the long-running YouTube series Guitar Tips. He continues to write, record, and teach from his home city of Los Angeles.
